Making Black Friday A Bit More Green
Here at Haru, we have thought hard about what to do for Black Friday, here is our approach and our thinking.
1. It’s a no to slashing prices for a number of reasons
Black Friday emerged as a day to get businesses and brands from “the red” into “the black”. Some brands, especially fast fashion brands, slash prices by 70% to 90% and try to shift huge volumes of products during this time. It’s one of the reasons (one of many) that fast fashion is such a big contributor to environmental damage. We want to do our best to change this, while still enabling people to enjoy shopping.
Secondly, as each of our products is associated with a charity and the vast majority of money from each Haru sale goes directly back to those charities, we have a commitment to our partners to ensure they get a fair price for their products.
2. Reward people for choosing to shop sustainably
We have just introduced Haru Rewards meaning you can collect points for various actions including purchases. These points can then be redeemed for money off your next Haru purchase.
3. Refer friends and family - Give £5, Get £5
We want more people to try shopping second-hand and to encourage this we are enabling you to refer friends. They get money off and so do you. Head over to the Haru Rewards icon on our site (bottom left) to learn more.
4. As always, guarantee quality
We know some of the hesitation around shopping second-hand is about the quality of items. At Haru we work really hard to ensure the quality of each item. Our team checks over each item and we give it a rating, from ‘New with Tags’ to ‘Good’ (ratings below). If you receive an item from us and it’s not what you expected for whatever reason we also have a 30 day returns policy.

5. Help people give second-hand a go
We have introduced a 10% off your first purchase if you sign up to our emails and we are also giving UK consumers free delivery when your purchase is over £50. We will continue to find ways to support our Haru community and encourage people to give second-hand a go. We don’t think you will be disappointed.
